Series 7 Exam Pass: Two September 2026 Student Passes

Two Exam Bootcamp students recorded a Series 7 exam pass in September 2026, one a retake after a 69. What changed and how the prep came together.

Series 7 Exam Pass: Two September 2026 Student Passes

September 2026 brought two more Series 7 exam pass results for Exam Bootcamp students. The first score report came back on September 2 and the second on September 28, both with the only word that matters on test day: Pass.

One of those passes was a retake. That student sat the exam in July, before working with us, and scored a 69 — three points short of the 72 needed. Six weeks later the same exam came back as a pass. The other student finished the month with a pass of their own, closing out a stretch of steady work in private Series 7 tutoring.

What Changed Between a 69 and a Series 7 Exam Pass

A 69 is close, and close is the most frustrating place to be. It usually means the candidate knows most of the material but is losing a handful of questions to the same few causes: misreading what a suitability question is really asking, running short on time in the options section, or second-guessing answers that were right the first time.

The fix is rarely more reading. It is finding which question types are costing points and drilling those until they stop costing points. In private sessions we work backward from the misses: what was the question actually testing, what made the wrong answer look right, and what habit gets the next one right.

The Series 7 Exam Format in 2026

The Series 7 is the General Securities Representative Exam. Candidates see 125 scored questions plus 5 unscored pretest questions mixed in at random — 130 in total — and have 3 hours and 45 minutes to finish. The passing score is 72, which works out to 90 correct out of the 125 that count. FINRA publishes the full outline on its Series 7 exam page.

The weighting matters more than the length. About 73% of the exam sits in one function: providing customers with information about investments, making recommendations, and maintaining records. That is where options, suitability, bonds, and investment companies live, and it is where most points are won or lost.

Why Timed, Full-Length Practice Decides a Series 7 Exam Pass

The last stretch before test day should include full-length practice exams taken under real conditions: one sitting, no notes, the full 3 hours and 45 minutes. Knowing the material in short quizzes is not the same as holding focus for 130 questions. Full-length practice shows where concentration slips and whether pacing holds up through the last forty questions.

We pair every practice exam with a review of the misses, so each one sharpens the next. By test day the exam feels familiar instead of long.

Planning Your Own Series 7 Exam Pass

If you are preparing now, start with the structure: the Series 7 study guide maps every topic to the FINRA outline. If you prefer a guided pace with other candidates, our live bootcamps cover the full exam. And if you are sitting close to 72 and need to find the last few points, book a private session and we will work through exactly what is costing them.
