Three Exam Bootcamp students recorded a Series 63 exam pass in September 2026. The score reports came back on September 5, September 17 and September 23, each marked Pass.
Two of the three were working on the Series 7 at the same time. One passed the Series 7 on September 2 and followed it with the Series 63 three weeks later. Another passed the Series 63 first and is now finishing the Series 7. The third passed on the first attempt. All three prepared through private Series 63 tutoring with us.
What the Series 63 Exam Tests
The Series 63 is the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination. It is written by NASAA and administered by FINRA, and it tests the state side of the business: who must register, what the state administrator can do, and what counts as unethical conduct. FINRA lists the details on its Series 63 exam page.
The exam is 65 questions: 60 scored and 5 unscored pretest items you cannot identify. Candidates have 75 minutes, and the passing score is 72%, which means 43 of the 60 scored questions correct.
Where a Series 63 Exam Pass Is Won
Three areas carry about 70% of the exam: ethical practices, communications with customers, and broker-dealer and agent registration. The registration questions reward a clear rule for every fact pattern: where the firm registers, where the agent registers, and when an exclusion applies. The ethics questions reward reading carefully, because the wrong answers are usually almost right.
That is why the study guide spends its time on decision rules rather than lists. When a question describes an agent with one retail client in another state, the right answer should come from a rule you can say out loud, not a guess.
Taking the Series 63 Alongside the Series 7
Many firms require both exams, and they fit together well. The Series 7 covers products and federal rules; the Series 63 covers state law and registration. Studying them back to back means the securities vocabulary is already in place, so the state material goes faster. Two of this month’s three passes followed exactly that path.
