Private Series 6 Tutoring Built Around Your Weak Areas
Series 6 tutoring focused on the two things that decide the exam: whether you can tell variable products apart under pressure, and whether you have the tax treatment of distributions straight. We work from your practice scores and the questions you keep missing.

Who Series 6 tutoring is for
The Series 6 is a narrow exam, and that narrowness is what makes it unforgiving — there is nowhere to hide a weak topic.
- You are retaking after failing and the score report pointed at products or regulation
- Variable annuity questions go wrong on accumulation versus annuity units
- Breakpoints, letters of intent, and rights of accumulation blur together
- The tax treatment of distributions is where your practice scores drop
- Variable life versus whole life versus universal life is not clear
- You have an insurance background and the securities rules are the gap
- Your firm has given you a deadline to be registered by
- You know the products but the suitability questions still go wrong
What we cover in a Series 6 session
A narrow exam: investment company products, variable contracts, the retirement accounts they sit in, and the rules governing how they are sold.
Mutual fund mechanics
Net asset value and public offering price, sales charge structures, breakpoints, letters of intent, and rights of accumulation. These are arithmetic questions dressed as product questions, and they are reliable points once the sequence is automatic.
Variable annuities
Accumulation units during the pay-in phase, annuity units during the payout phase, and the payout options. The distinction between the two unit types is the single most tested idea on this exam and the one candidates most often blur.
Variable life insurance
What is guaranteed and what is not: the death benefit has a floor, the cash value does not. We work through how premium allocation, the separate account, and policy loans interact, because the exam likes questions where two of the three change at once.
Retirement accounts and their tax treatment
Traditional and Roth IRAs, 401(k) and 403(b) plans, and the contribution and distribution rules attached to each. Taxation is where Series 6 candidates most consistently lose points, usually by carrying an assumption from one account type to another.
Suitability for packaged products
Time horizon, liquidity needs, and tax status decide whether a variable annuity is a reasonable recommendation or an indefensible one. The exam is pointed about this, and so are the regulators.
Communications and prohibited practices
What can be said about a variable product, what has to be disclosed, and the sales practices — switching, breakpoint sales, and misrepresentation of guarantees — that draw enforcement.
How we diagnose and teach
Series 6 candidates often come from insurance, where the products are familiar and the securities regulation is not — or from a securities background, where it is the reverse. Either way the failure shows up in the same place: a question that is really about suitability or tax treatment gets answered as if it were about product features. We work through your missed questions to find which of those two you are doing, then drill it.
From there it’s pattern recognition — teaching you to recognize the handful of question shapes the exam reuses — elimination discipline, and timing, so the method holds up at the end of the exam as well as it does at the start.
